Preview: Portugal. The Man and Lucius at Merriweather Post Pavilion

Alaska-bred alternative rock-pop group Portugal. The Man is back on tour. On Friday, September 21, they will be stopping at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland on the East Coast leg of their 2018 tour. 

After their first Grammy win in January for "Best Pop Duo/Group Performance" for their song “Feel It Still,” Portugal. The Man's fan base has significantly grown.

While some may find that their latest album leans into a carefree party sound, the depth of Portugal. The Man’s talent and creativity never disappoints. They understand their audience, what they like, and what makes us all want to dance around. Their syncopated guitar notes and energetic lyrics never fail to encourage audience members to break out into a wiggle and we can’t wait to jam the night away during their set at Merriweather. Opening up the show is guitar-driven, folk inspired pop band, Lucius. Lead singers, Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig, are often mistaken for twins because of their matching haircuts and identical stage wardrobe consisting of vibrant, trendy outfits that match their harmonious style of performance. Their music features gorgeous and joyful lyrics about the bittersweet experiences of love and adventure. From intimate snapshots of romance —the honeymoon stage, the stormy fights, and the lonely aftermath of when it's all over, Lucius pulls at your heart strings and ties on your dancing shoes. Lucius' songs meld together like a lucid dream sequence that captures and emulates a desire to pull the escape hatch and go on wild adventure.
