The Wombats -- Glitterbug | Album Reviews

glitterbug

Glitterbug is The Wombat's first album in four years, and they are bursting back onto the scene in style. With tracks that are ready for mainstream radio, Glitterbug will definitely be the soundtrack to your summer.

Greek Tragedy -- This song was the second single, released in mid-January 2015. There was quite a gap between releases of the first two singles, but "Greek Tragedy" was definitely worth the wait. The chorus of this song starts off with the lyrics "she hits like ecstasy," and then brings in some killer drums. As one of my favorites on the album, it's going to be the song of the summer, if I have anything to say about it.

Your Body is a Weapon -- "Your Body is a Weapon" was released in early October 2013, and was the first single from "Glitterbug." This track is definitely a strong one, and was the perfect choice for a leading single. The song came in at #23 on Triple J's Hottest 100 of 2013. This radio-ready track brings back a lot of great memories for me, so it has a special place in my heart.

Flowerball -- "Floweball" opens with a summery-sound, making it the perfect track to ride around with your windows down. It has some of my favorite lyrics on the album, like "flowerball, how can you waltz in my bloodstream and then never call?" Additionally, lyrics such as "like a skeptic needs a church, it's not fun unless it hurts" really make you think. "Flowerball" is one of those unique and special songs that has instrumentals that directly correlate with the lyrics.
