Premiere: Life Bid by Dayon Greene

Dayon Greene, formerly known as The Experience, premieres his single Life Bid via Capitol Sound. The single bundled with Dayon’s decision to release music under his given-name marks a new era for the PG-County native. “…you have to love yourself for who you truly are,” Dayon shared.

“I feel that it was no better time for me to embody my true self than now. [This realization] sparked the name change.”

The cpsl0ck+Dayon-produced track is punchy and fun, yet closes out with a vocal warning from rapper Black X that’s both jazzy and ominous. The song is an upbeat twist on an otherwise dark phrase; Life Bid delivers pompous confidence stuffed into whimsical rhymes. And while mentioning delivery, Life Bid realizes Dayon’s growth in cadence. 

“Through creating this album I have answered so many of my own questions by deep diving into who I really am and really putting forth the effort to ‘find’ myself,” Dayon said.

Though several changes in intonation come and go in the song, rest assured it’s all Dayon. His ability to switch up a flow without compromising lyricism or production value is dope. His delivery keeps the song interesting and pushes less-complex bars into ‘that-is-catchy’ territory.

And although the single comes out amid a public health crisis, Dayon’s camp assures us that Life Bid is a certified banger. “He was playing the song at a variety of shows before [COVID-19] changed things up for everyone,” Dayon’s management shared. “We think it’s a hit based off the crowd reactions we’ve gotten so far.”

Life Bid, precedes Dayon Greene’s debut album due to release June 24th. Like the single, Dayon’s album genre-bends and pays homage to his roots in both gospel and go-go. His sound is both classic and unique. He borrows from vibrations before him, yet improves on the design.
